Abstract Expression Art

Artist Statement

My art begins where words lose their grip—at the edge of memory, breath, and becoming. These are not merely paintings or marks; they are moments captured mid-transformation. They do not ask for understanding, but for presence.

What you see here is not the finished work. The real piece happens in you—when something in your body stills, when you remember something you didn’t know you forgot, when a wound turns soft in the light.

In a world obsessed with clarity and control, my work invites you to sit in the space of not-knowing. Of wonder. Of beauty that does not ask to be solved.

Collectors have said my pieces feel like they’ve always belonged—not just to their space, but to their story. Maybe you’re here because part of you is ready to return to something true. Maybe the work is already waiting for you.

Stand still. Breathe. Let the piece choose you.

This is the process of Phuc Luu creating an abstract expressionist painting from the constructing of the canvas, developing the first layers, framing, and delivery to the client.

What is Abstract Expressionism?

Abstract expressionism is a post WWII art movement started in NYC that emphasizes emotional and expressive content using abstraction.

Common are large paintings like those of Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko who thought of painting as a way to invoke feelings and experience rather than giving representation.

In my work, I continue the tradition of expression through the use of eastern themes and bringing both interior and exterior worlds together. They are psychological landscapes and spiritual renderings created to invoke my personal story of finding connection to place, moment, and meaning.
