Helping individuals and communities navigate what it means to live faithfully and make a real difference in their world.

Many communities, religious groups, and organizations are not healthy. They start off with the best of intentions in trying to help others and their communities, but they end up increasing hurt rather than empowering healing.

I help communities identify their points of woundeness, give them tools to alleviate their hurt so they and start to grow in healthy ways. By reading, engaging in critical discussion, and enacting practices found in Jesus of the East, we can continue to invest in our worship and to strengthen our relationship with others. Jesus of the East breaks open critical issues through the lens of the gospels including anti-racism and allyship, immigration, reparations, and healing for oppressed communities.

As a theologian, professor, and educator, I’m here to help your university, community, church, or book club engage in meaningful dialogue about the things that truly matter: how to create healing and holistic communities.

I sat down with André Johnson of the Gathering Houston congregation to discuss Jesus of the East, Black bodies in America, and the future of humanity.
